The English bowler hat was designed by Thomas and William Bowler for Lock and Co. Hatters in 1849. It was commissioned by Edward Coke as a close-fitting hat for his gamekeepers that would not be knocked off by low-hanging branches while riding through woodland. That practical origin is why the bowler has a rounded dome crown and a short, stiff brim rather than the wide brim of a cowboy hat or the flat profile of a cap. The shape solved a specific problem, and it has not changed since.
This version follows the authentic English design: 100% wool felt with a rounded dome crown, short stiff brim, satin lining, and a grosgrain ribbon band. Available in eight colourways from classic black through to leopard print, covering formal, casual, and statement styling from a single hat shape. Sized from Small to XL-Large for precise fit.

Bowler Hat vs Derby Hat
They are the same hat. ""Bowler"" is the British name, taken from the hatmakers who built the first one. ""Derby"" is the American name, linked to the hat's popularity at horse racing events like the Kentucky Derby. The crown shape, brim width, and construction are identical. If you search for a derby hat, this is what you are looking for.
